When a dream comes true
Pursuing a dream is wonderfully inspiring, I think you’ll agree!
But what happens after you’ve achieved it?
Achieving my long-held dream of becoming a published novelist finally happened one chill winter’s day in January 2025, the 21st of January, to be precise, at 12.00 GMT.
It was not momentous like having a baby, or committing to the man I love in lifelong marriage, I shall not exaggerate.
Yet, it represents a momentous marker in my life, one that I suspect will splice my adulthood into before and after. ‘I did it!’ says she, sipping some more Prosecco before shaking her head again, then settling into a smile of deep joy touched with relief. ‘It was worth it.’ Because writing a novel is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

Naturally, life can’t go on for more than a day or so in a bubbly haze of euphoria, the happiness shared with my family and friends who truly felt the joy of this achievement - thank you all!
I was always sure that I had it in me to achieve this dream, but I was not always certain, as time went by, that I would actually manage to reach it, or indeed be given the grace to complete it. I am deeply grateful.
There remains much to be done. As an indie author, I wear many hats - writer, publisher and marketing department, too! - it is my job to let readers who love this kind of novel know about it – a crime novel full of suspenseful romance. All that is no easy feat, and I shall always have a great deal to learn. And that is one of the things I love most about being a writer.
Thank you for taking an interest! I truly hope you will enjoy my debut novel. A Case of Conviction is a legal thriller. It is a love story. It is the story of how a gifted young lawyer risks all to defend justice, and seeks the courage to start her life again.
A Case of Conviction by Ally Preece is now available worldwide on Amazon.
